The black political prisoner Jorge Luis Perez Antunez spent 17 years in Cuba’s worst jail. During these years, he suffered every kind of torture; in spite of it, he never gave up his anti-communist ideals and values. On the contrary, he’s among the other prisoners who launched the unprecedented and popular “Non Cooperation” campaign aimed at overthrowing the regime step by step through non-cooperation and civic desobedience. Finally, he has been released and now is in his hometown. He just affirmed that the injustices he went through while in jail contributed to making him more determined than ever and vowed he’ll continue the freedom fight against communism. Welcome back, Jorge!!
Here is a short video of Antunez’ interview with a Spanish journalist, in his hometown after his release. And he allowed a written interview to a fellow dissident: “I will continue fighting the communists”

Martha Beatriz Roque Cabello reminded us that we shouldn’t be fooled into believing that the dissidents were ‘freed’. As she wrote in an email, “they were not freed. They were released. And were released after serving their sentences. Let’s not be fooled into believing that it’s because of the Moratinos’ visit to Cuba that the dissidents were released. I warn everyone not to fall into this trap. The dissidents were not freed. They were released, because they served their sentences. One of them, Antunez, even served more”.

Another dissident who was released after serving his sentence
Martha Beatriz sent us a picture of her visit to Oscar Sanchez Madan, the independent journalist and activist of the Alternative Option Independent Movement, just three days before he was arrested and sentenced to 4 years in prison in a quick secret trial without a defense laywer.
